Silverette
Silverette Silver Nursing Cups Review
Olivia's rating
Approx. $50.00
An old remedy in a well-made modern form — and one of the few baby products where the price is genuinely justified by the material.

How it scored
What we liked
- +Solid 925 silver, not plated
- +Keeps fabric off damaged skin immediately
- +Lasts indefinitely and can be passed on
What could be better
- –High price for two small cups
- –Soothes the symptom, not the latch problem causing it
Silverette makes nursing cups from 925 sterling silver, produced in Italy by silversmiths. They are worn over the nipple between feeds during early breastfeeding, when cracking and soreness are at their worst.
The reason to take this seriously rather than dismiss it as a wellness object is that silver's antimicrobial properties are well documented and have been used in wound care for a long time. The cups also do something more basic and more immediately useful: they keep fabric off skin that hurts. For anyone in the first weeks of feeding, that alone changes how a day feels.
The price is the objection everyone raises, and it deserves a straight answer. Fifty dollars and up for two small cups sounds absurd until you notice they are solid sterling silver, not plated. Plated silver wears through and then you are holding base metal against broken skin. The material cost is most of the price, they do not wear out, and they can be passed to a second child or a friend.
What they are not is a fix for the underlying problem. Nipple damage during feeding is usually caused by latch, and cups soothe the symptom while the cause continues. Anyone reaching for these should also be getting proper feeding support — the cups buy comfort, not a solution.
Worth it in the early weeks, and genuinely worth passing on afterwards. Not worth it if you are past the painful stage — at that point they solve a problem you no longer have.
