Italic First Order Guide 2026: What to Buy, How to Check Out, What to Keep

Your cart holds one pair of bath towels. $149. The checkout button is right there, and then the doubts arrive all at once. Should you make an account first? Is there a shipping fee? What if the Sand looks more like beige under your bathroom lights, and what happens if you've already washed them?
Those are first-order questions, and Italic answers almost all of them somewhere on its site: on product pages, in its help center and on the membership page. Olivia Reviews pulled those answers together in October 2026 and put them in the order you'll actually need them, from choosing a first piece to opening the box.
Quick take: Start with one small, well-defined piece, create a free Insider account before you pay so you collect credit, and sign in at checkout instead of using an express button. Keep the order at $125 or more for free standard shipping, expect about a week from order to doorstep, and don't wash anything until you're sure it stays, because Italic only takes back unwashed items. See today's Italic deals before you start.
Step 1: Choose a first piece you can judge quickly

Italic has no showroom or pop-up store right now, according to its help center, so you can't squeeze a towel before buying. The workaround is to make your first order something small enough to judge in your hands.
The lowest-cost entry is a pair of Ultraplush washcloths for $39. They're the same 800 GSM Australian cotton, with the same 1.6 cm pile, as the line Italic calls its most-loved towel, just cut to 13" Γ 13". Hold one and you'll know whether you want the heavy hotel feel or something lighter. If you already know you want the weight, the Ultraplush Standard Set (two washcloths, two hand towels, two bath towels) is $199 instead of $247 and clears the free-shipping line on its own.
Step 2: Decide how heavy you like your towels

Italic's towels split into two weights. Ultraplush sits at 800 GSM. Most of the patterned lines, such as Tessera, Lario, Riva and Nautilus, are 600 GSM with a 1.0 cm pile, which means a lighter towel that dries faster on a hook.
Tessera is a good example of the lighter side. It carries a New badge, comes in Tobacco & Black with a geometric tessellated weave, and costs $59 for two hand towels, $149 for two bath towels and $199 for a six-piece Standard Set (listed at $247). It also falls under the site's Buy 3, Get 15% Off offer for seasonal towels when we checked. Like the other patterned towels, it has a locker loop for hanging.
Step 3: Measure the mattress before you buy sheets

If your first order is bedding, take one measurement before anything else: mattress depth. The Luxe Australian Sateen Sheet Set uses a fitted sheet with a 16-inch pocket and a continuous elastic hem. A queen fitted sheet is listed at 60" Γ 80" Γ 16", and the sides are labelled so you know which way it goes on.
The set is 400-thread-count Australian long-staple cotton sateen with a flat sheet, fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Solid colors ran from $229 (Twin) to $299 (King and Cal King) in October 2026, while striped colorways such as Oat & Tobacco and Blue & White ran $249 to $329. Remember that a return must be unwashed, so check the size label against your bed before the first night.
Step 4: Pick a robe size with the fit in mind

The Ultraplush Unisex Bathrobe ($199) is one of the pieces Italic marks Best-Seller, and it's the one item where size takes a little thought. It comes in Small, Medium and Large, and Italic describes the fit as unisex and oversized. If you're between sizes, that oversized cut is worth factoring in. The robe is 420 GSM Australian cotton with a large hood, a shawl neckline, two patch pockets and a removable belt with two loop positions, so you can adjust how it closes.

Step 5: Create a free account before you pay
You can browse without an account, but a first order is the moment to open one. Italic's free Insider tier starts with your first order and earns $1 in credit for every $10 you spend. Product pages show the amount up front; a $59 pair of hand towels, for instance, displayed "Earn $5.90 in credits." Insiders also get Member Deal Days and a birthday gift.
One step trips people up. Italic's help center says credits only appear at checkout when you're signed in, and express options such as Shop Pay, PayPal and Google Pay skip the sign-in step. So sign in first and go through the standard checkout if you want your credits to count.
The paid Bold tier costs $60 a year and returns $120 in credit ($30 when you join, then $30 every 90 days), with free shipping and returns on every order. Each credit lasts 90 days, and Bold renews unless you cancel. For a single first order, Insider is the easier fit.
Step 6: Check out with the shipping rules in mind
- Where: all 50 US states. Expedited shipping isn't available to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico or APO/AFPO addresses.
- Standard shipping: free on orders of $125 or more for non-members; $8 below that. Alaska, Hawaii, Vermont, the US Virgin Islands and APO addresses pay a flat $14.
- Expedited: $29 for everyone.
- Paying over time: product pages showed Afterpay in four installments.
- Sales tax: depends on the state you ship to.
- Double-check before you click: Italic says it's typically unable to change an order once placed, including the address. If you spot a mistake, email hello@italic.com right away.
Step 7: Know when the box will arrive
Orders are usually processed within 1β2 business days, and Italic doesn't process shipments on weekends. From there, standard shipping typically arrives in 4β5 business days and express in 2β3, per the help center. You'll get emails when the order is received, when it ships and when it's out for delivery. If nothing arrives in your inbox within 5 days of ordering, Italic asks you to contact hello@italic.com.
Step 8: Open carefully and decide before the first wash

This is the step that protects your money. Italic accepts returns within 30 days of delivery if items are unworn, unused and unwashed, with tags and original packaging, and bath and bedding pieces must go back in their cloth duster bag. So unpack gently, check color in daylight, and keep the bag until you're certain.
- Fees: non-members pay $8 for a return; members return free.
- Refund choice: take it as Italic credit and get a 15% bonus, or back to your card. You can't switch later.
- Exchanges: free for a similar item and size.
- Exceptions: candles are credit-only, and Member Archive, Member Drops and Private Sales items are final sale. The standalone bath mat's product page also says final sale, so read each page's Returns tab.
- Timing: return labels expire after 7 days; inspection takes 1β2 weeks, then refunds go out within 2β3 business days.
- Defects: don't use the standard return. Email photos and your order details within 30 days of delivery.

Pros and cons of ordering from Italic
What we like
- Exact dimensions, weights and pocket depths on every page.
- A free account that earns credit from the first order.
- Clear delivery windows and email updates at each stage.
- Free exchanges and a 15% bonus for choosing credit.
What to watch
- No showroom, so you can't touch anything before buying.
- Washed items can't go back, and some items are final sale.
- Express checkout buttons skip your credits.
- Orders are hard to change once placed.
Who should place a first order, and who should wait
Good fit: US shoppers who like reading spec sheets, people refreshing one room at a time, and anyone happy to inspect a box before washing it.
Maybe wait: shoppers outside the US, anyone who needs to wash-test towels before deciding, and anyone planning to reuse a promo code, since Italic says a used code isn't reinstated after a return.
Ways to make the first order cost less
- Shop Member Week. Italic's homepage says it runs until October 24, with a new members-only offer each day.
- Use Buy 3 offers: 10% off three Ultraplush items, 15% off three seasonal towel items, per the site banner.
- Choose a set rather than separate pairs, and look at the add-ons on product pages; Wool Dryer Balls showed $16.80 instead of $24 there.
- Codes: Olivia Reviews found no public promo code in October 2026. Compare current offers on our Italic coupons page.

Final verdict
A first Italic order goes smoothly when you treat it as a test: one small piece or one set, a free account made before you pay, a standard checkout so credits apply, and a box opened carefully with the duster bag kept. Do that and the return window stays open while you decide. See today's Italic deals before you place it.
