Dr Ruscio Shakes Compared 2026: Original vs Low Carb vs Whey Free, Label by Label

Dr Ruscio Shakes Compared 2026: Original vs Low Carb vs Whey Free, Label by Label

From across the kitchen, they look like siblings: three tall tubs with the same clean typeface, one brown, one deeper brown, one green. Up close, the labels tell very different stories. One is built on whey protein isolate, one swaps most of the carbs for extra protein, and one contains no whey at all.

That's the Elemental Heal line from the Dr Ruscio store, and it sits next to two everyday powders that often land in the same cart. Olivia Reviews read every label and price in October 2026 to lay the five side by side, so you can tell which tub fits the job you have in mind before you open your wallet.

Quick take: Elemental Heal Original ($79.99, 10 servings) is the calorie-dense, whey-based formula; Low-Carb ($94.99, 10 servings) trades carbs for more protein; Whey-Free ($159.99, about 36 servings) is the dairy-free version with free-form amino acids. Organic Select Pea Protein ($53.95) and Gut Rebuild Nutrients ($74.95) are smaller, everyday scoops. Elemental Heal tubs are on the 15% subscribe-and-save plan, so see today's Dr Ruscio deals before choosing.

First, what makes Elemental Heal different from a protein powder

The store describes Elemental Heal as a meal replacement shake rather than a protein supplement: its HSA/FSA collection calls the original a "semi-elemental meal replacement shake," and the Whey-Free page calls that version "a complete meal replacement that supplies essential macronutrients, vitamins, minerals and electrolytes." Each label carries a long vitamin and mineral panel, not just protein numbers.

The labels also say the formula "has a variety of uses" and to speak with your doctor to decide how to use it. Olivia Reviews takes that at face value: this comparison covers what's in each tub and what it costs, not what it does for your body.

The five tubs, one by one

Elemental Heal (Original): the full-calorie, whey-based shake

A serving is four scoops (about 97 g), and the tub holds 10 servings. Per serving, the vanilla label lists 350 calories, 59 g of carbohydrate, 3 g of sugars and 27 g of protein. The other ingredients are organic tapioca maltodextrin, whey protein isolate, natural flavors and luo han guo (monk fruit). It's labeled casein free and lactose free, but the allergen line still says milk.

Pick this if you want the most calories per scoop and dairy-derived protein is fine for you. Chocolate or vanilla, $79.99.

Elemental Heal Low Carb: more protein, fewer carbs

Same four-scoop serving idea (79 g here), same 10 servings, but a different balance. The chocolate label lists 270 calories, 31 g of carbohydrate, 2 g of sugars, 3.5 g of fat and 35 g of protein, plus 3 g of MCT oil powder. Whey protein isolate is the first ingredient, followed by organic tapioca maltodextrin and cocoa, sweetened with stevia leaf extract. Like the original, it's labeled casein and lactose free, with milk as the allergen.

Pick this if you'd rather have protein than carbs from your shake. Chocolate or vanilla, $94.99.

Elemental Heal Whey Free: the dairy-free version

This is the one that reads most differently. A serving is a single scoop (about 45 g), and the tub holds roughly 36. Instead of whey, the chocolate label lists 20 individually named amino acid ingredients at 250 mg each, plus 3,000 mg of MCT oil powder. Per serving that's 150 calories, 3.5 g of fat, 31 g of carbohydrate and 11 g of sugars, 10 g of them added. Other ingredients include organic tapioca maltodextrin, dextrose, cocoa, sea salt and stevia, and it's labeled dairy free.

Pick this if dairy is off the table. Chocolate or peach, $159.99 for the 36-serving tub.

Organic Select Pea Protein, Vanilla: the everyday scoop

Not part of the Elemental Heal line, but it's what many shoppers actually want for a morning smoothie. The label lists 20 servings of about 28.57 g, each with 110 calories, 20 g of protein, 4 g of dietary fiber and 0 g of sugars. Ingredients are certified organic yellow pea protein isolate, natural French vanilla flavor, organic gum acacia, organic guar gum and monk fruit extract, and the label says it does not contain gluten. The suggested use is one scoop a day with 8 oz of water, plant milk or another drink. $53.95.

Pick this if you want a plain, plant-based protein for shakes rather than a meal replacement.

Gut Rebuild Nutrients, Chocolate: a small scoop, a short label

A 9.9 g scoop, 30 servings and just 20 calories each. The label lists 4,000 mg of L-glutamine, 1,500 mg of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, 1,000 mg of deglycyrrhizinated licorice root powder, 75 mg of aloe vera inner-leaf extract, and zinc as PepZin GI (zinc L-carnosine), flavored with chocolate bean powder, Himalayan pink salt and stevia. One line deserves attention: it contains shrimp, crab and/or lobster (crustacean shellfish). $74.95.

Pick this if you want a stir-in scoop, not a shake, and shellfish isn't an issue.

The price math, done fairly

Elemental Heal Original vanilla supplement facts label
The original's label: four scoops per serving, 10 servings per tub. Image: Dr Ruscio.

Price per serving looks dramatic at first glance: about $8.00 for the original, $9.50 for Low Carb and $4.44 for Whey Free. But those servings aren't the same size. Compare by calories instead and the gap narrows: roughly $2.29 per 100 calories for the original, $2.96 for Whey Free and $3.52 for Low Carb. If protein is your yardstick, Low Carb's 35 g per serving gives 350 g of protein per tub, against 270 g in the original.

For the everyday powders, pea protein works out to about $2.70 a scoop and Gut Rebuild Nutrients about $2.50. Subscribing takes 15% off the Elemental Heal tubs and 10% off the other two, according to the product pages.

  • Pea protein's label is short and plain.

What to watch

  • Elemental Heal is expensive per serving, and the Whey-Free tub costs $159.99 up front.

Who should buy, and who should pass

Good fit: shoppers who already know they want a meal-replacement-style shake and have talked it through with their doctor, and anyone after a simple organic pea protein. Skip or wait: anyone with a shellfish allergy (for Gut Rebuild Nutrients), anyone avoiding milk (for the original and Low Carb), and anyone hoping to "try a scoop," since opened tubs aren't returnable.

FAQ

Which Elemental Heal has the most protein?

Low Carb, at 35 g per serving on its chocolate label, compared with 27 g on the original's vanilla label. Whey-Free uses individual amino acids instead.

Is any of these dairy free?

Elemental Heal Whey Free is labeled dairy free, and the pea protein is plant-based. The original and Low Carb contain whey protein isolate and list milk as an allergen.

What flavors are available?

Original and Low Carb come in chocolate or vanilla; Whey-Free in chocolate or peach. The pea protein is vanilla and Gut Rebuild Nutrients is chocolate.

Can I return a tub if I don't like the taste?

Not once it's opened. The store accepts only unopened products, with a 15% restocking fee.

Final verdict

These tubs only look alike. Elemental Heal Original is the calorie-dense whey formula, Low Carb is the protein-forward one, and Whey Free is the dairy-free option with the biggest tub and the biggest price. For everyday shakes, the pea protein is the simpler, cheaper scoop. Read the label against your own needs, talk to your doctor about the Elemental Heal line, and compare current Dr Ruscio offers before you subscribe.
